The Chairman Committee on Education in the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Oluwafemi Fowokanmi has said that Governor Seyi Makinde and his counterpart from Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola deserved to be commended for their decision to cede the ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso to Oyo State to put an end to the lingering crisis at the institution.
Hon. Fowokanmi, who represents Ibadan South West state constituency II in the state’s assembly, in a statement congratulated Oyo State government, Governor Seyi Makinde and the entire people of the state for the landmark achievement.
The lawmaker disclosed that Governor Makinde has displayed doggedness and high level of commitment to fulfill his campaign promise by ensuring that acquisition of LAUTECH came into fruition.
According to Hon. Fowokanmi, “Governor Seyi Makinde has demonstrated his commitment towards educational development in Oyo State in his May 29 inaugural speech, where he abolished the N3000 educational levied imposed by the immediate past administration.
“He distributed free textbooks for secondary students across the state. The governor also employed 5000 teachers and 2000 non-teaching staff to balance the equation of teacher to students.
“Added to his cap, is the acquisition of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), all of these have shown that the governor is not only reliable and dependable leader but also a promise keeper,” Hon. Fowokanmi said.
It takes two to tangled, the lawmaker commended the Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola for the good spirit of sportsmanship he had demonstrated to ensure peaceful transition process.
Hon. Fowokanmi submitted that both governors have understood and proved that the significance of governance is to prioritize the welfare and interest of the people, as indicated in their decision to mutually signed the Memorandum of Understanding, which eventually ceded the institution to Oyo State and College of Health Sciences to Osun State.
