Recall that the Christian Wake and Night of Tributes for the late Barrister Omodewu were held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at the Victoria Garden Event Centre, opposite The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

During the funeral service, Rev. Dr. John A. Oyelade delivered a powerful sermon titled “When Death Occurs,” urging the congregation to reflect on their mortality and their spiritual journey.

“Death is not just an end but a profound reminder of our fragile existence,” Rev. Oyelade emphasized.

“It calls us to live with purpose, to cherish each moment, and to prepare our hearts for the life beyond. It is a call to remember that heaven is our ultimate home, and we must strive every day to be worthy of it.”

Senator Fatai Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District, gave a heartfelt tribute to Omodewu, recalling his dedication to public service.

“Isaac Omodewu was not just a colleague; he was a friend and a mentor. He was a man whose leadership was defined by integrity and a genuine commitment to the welfare of his people.

“His vision and passion for a better Oyo State inspired us all, and his legacy will continue to light our path.” Buhari said.

Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, representing Oyo South, praised Omodewu’s character and commitment to the party.

“He was a man of unyielding principles, who believed that fairness and equity should always prevail. His voice was strong, his convictions unshakeable, and his heart always aligned with what was right. His loss is immeasurable, but his contributions to our state and our nation will live on,” Alli stated.

The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, also spoke, highlighting Omodewu’s influence within the party and his mentorship to younger politicians.

“Barrister Omodewu was more than a leader; he was a beacon of hope and a source of wisdom. His guidance shaped many of us, and his courage in the face of challenges set a standard we all strive to meet.

“We owe it to his memory to carry forward his vision of a just and prosperous society.” Kekemeke said.

Following the service, Barrister Omodewu was laid to rest in his hometown, Otu.

The interment saw a large turnout of dignitaries, party members, and well-wishers who came to bid farewell to a man whose life was characterized by service, integrity, and dedication to the betterment of his community and his state.
