Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin was a legendary leader and a fierce champion of justice. I vividly recall his courageous challenge to Chief Adedibu over the Ibadan Municipal Government (IMG) during the SDP/NRC era.
His bold move sent shockwaves throughout the political landscape, and the case became a landmark reference in Nigeria’s legal annals.
Chief Ogundoyin’s leadership inspired many notable politicians in Oyo State, including my mentor, Chief Yekinni Adeojo, whom he mentored into politics. I was privileged to be by his side on that fateful day. Alhaji Mikhail Bayo Lawal was another prominent beneficiary of his political guidance.
The epic legal battle between Uncle Bayo Lawal and Baba Ilebe Babasale Nureni Akanbi was a testament to Chief Ogundoyin’s unwavering commitment to justice. The case was so significant that it was taken to London for continuation of the Tribunal sitting, with the late Justice Adio presiding.
Chief Adeseun Ogundoyin was a colossus in Oyo State politics, and his legacy deserves to be massively immortalized. I join the children of this iconic Nigerian leader in wishing his soul a rest in perfect peace.
Thank you, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, for keeping his memory alive.
