Senator Olufemi Lanlehin (Solan), Hon. Shina Peller, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe K and Dr. Olusola Ayandele have expressed sadness at the demise of a former Oyo State governor, Senator Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi, on Thursday, 25 June, 2020, aged 70.
The governorship candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in the 2019 general elections in Oyo State, Oloye Sharafadeen Alli also mourned the late politician.
On his part, Lanlehin, former Oyo South Senator between 2011 and 2015, and governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 polls, lamented what he described as the death of a true patriot, statesman and democrat, avowing that indeed, Ibadan, Oyo State, and Nigeria, has lost one of its leading lights, intellectuals and colourful personalities, whose void would be somewhat difficult to fill.
While praying for Almighty Allah to grant the repose of the soul of the dear departed Senator Ajimobi, and to gift him Aljanna Firdaus, Lanlehin commiserated with the illustrious Ajimobi family of Ojaa’ba, especially former first lady, Florence, his children, the All Progressives Congress (APC), on whose platform he served as a two-term governor, and until recently, the Deputy National Chairman (South), as well as the Acting National Chairman, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso I, and all the very good people of Oyo State in particular, and Nigeria in general. Senator Lanlehin (Solan), equally prayed God to grant them all, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
Also, a member of the House of Representatives from Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Shina Peller, has expressed his sadness over the death of the immediate past governor of Oyo State, Senator Isiaka Abiola Ajimobi.
Similarly, the Iseyin-born federal legislator identified and condoled with the entire people of Oyo State, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the family of the late former governor on his demise, whilst he prayed that God grants the deceased an eternal life.
The Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora, Hon. Tolulope Akande-Sadipe K, in a statement issued by her Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Olamilekan Olusada, also condoles with the Government and people of Oyo state, All Progressive Congress and late Ajimobi’s political associates.
She said, “KOSELERI” My dear Uncle, My boss, My Mentor, a man who stands tall above others in truth and in action, listening and watching you made me wiser; you have been the teacher of some of the best lessons I learnt in life, life is indeed amazing with your guidance which has steered me in the right direction in my journey’s cross road”.
In a condolence message made available to InsdeOyo.com on Friday in Ibadan, a former gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state, Dr. Olusola Ayandele disclosed that the death of Sen. Ajimobi had robbed Nigeria of one citizen whose service and sacrifice to fatherland and humanity as a whole would remain indelible in the anal of history of mankind.
Oloye Sharafadeen Alli described the late immediate past governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi as a pride of Ibadan land, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
Alli said Ajimobi was a great achiever who contributed greatly to the development of Ibadan land, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
The statement read: “He was a pride of Ibadan land, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. He was a great achiever who had contributed greatly to the development of new Oyo state.
“I want to appeal to all the Muslim and Christian faithful to use the opportunity of today (Friday) and coming Sunday to pray for an end to the further spread of coronavirus; quick recovery for the sick and forgiveness of sins of all departed ones.” Alli added.
