The governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress and the Zenith Labour Party, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and Chief Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli visited the former Governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State on Monday in his Apapa, Lagos residence, unannounced.
Sources told PUNCH that Lanlehin arrived ahead of Alli as their host held separate meetings with both of them before bringing them to the table afterwards.
Over the weekend, Ladoja has moved to the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP after the party settled for former Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sharafadeen Alli as ZLP governorship candidate.
A source in Abuja told insideOyo.com that Sharafahdeen Alli’s form was submitted at the INEC national office and substituted for a former Commissioner of Finance in the Ladoja administration, Waheed Akanbi, had since October emerged the candidate of the ZLP.
Recall that the former Chairman of Oodua investment was one of the 12 aggrieved aspirants of the African Democratic Congress.
The defection, multiple sources told InsideOyo.com put the one of the major opposition parties in the state in disarray.
At the meeting on Monday, Ladoja encouraged both Lanlehin and Alli to see each other as fighting the cause of liberating the masses of Oyo State from the current leadership and enjoined them to refrain from statements capable of inflaming the already tensed situation in their camps.
Lanlehin and Alli later embraced and agreed to continue consultations to see the possibility of working together “since they both are concerned about sending the APC government packing from Agodi Government House in 2019”, a source told PUNCH.
