Three years after his death, a former federal lawmaker, Hon. Oluyemi Taiwo has immortalized Lanlate-born philanthropist, Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi with a 200-seater capacity civic and event center.
The immortalization of Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi was in commemoration of the 3rd year remembrance of the deceased, with an event attended by sons and daughters of Lanlate town, members of the ruling Peoples democratic party, PDP and dignitaries from far and near.
Presenting the 200 capacity civic center to the community on Monday, the facilitator, Hon. Oluyemi Taiwo said its achievement cannot be written without the contribution of Late Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi.
He added that the deceased name will continue to be remembered for the positive contribution to the development of Lanlate and Ibarapaland despite not being a politician.
According to the former lawmaker, he immortalized the philanthropist and bridge builder, Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi for his contribution to humanity and the development of the Lanlate town in Ibarapa East local government area of Oyo state.
Hon Oluyemi Taiwo was a member of the 9th National Assembly. He represented Ibarapa East / Ido federal constituency.
The Onilala of Lanlate, Oba Sunday Oladejo Oguntayi II said Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi wrote his name in the sands of time, hence the need for sons and daughters of the ancient town to show love to one another and champion development of Lanlate as a whole.
Also speaking, the wife of the deceased , Ayaba Lucy Gbaye-Adewuyi said her husband believed in his root and giving back while alive was his priority.
She added that the family left behind will continue to follow the footsteps of Late Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi.
Others who spoke at the inauguration of the Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi Memorial civic center include Dr. Remi Jolaoso, publisher of Gsmist magazine, Mr.Abayomi Olajide, Chief Agbo Adeyemo and host of others said the handwriting of Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi lives on
Late Omoba Gbaye Adewuyi was a banker that reached the peak of his career in almost three decades in the industry and was the brain behind Zinatullilahi Alari Adewuyi Scholarship Foundation and Lanlate Night of Praises where thousands of Ibarapa land residents converge to praise the lord.
He breathed his last on 25th June, 2020.
