PDP Picks April 10 For Zonal Congresses, Southwest Congress Holds In Ibadan
">

There is no end in sight to the crisis generated by last week’s congress of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oyo State.

Owing to irreconcilable ‎differences over leadership positions, the party had been divided along former governor Rashidi Ladoja and Engr. Seyi Makinde’s factions.

Ladoja’s faction produced Alhaji Omokunmi Mustapha while Makinde’s faction‎ produced Chief Jacob Adetoro. Both are from Oke-ogun zone of the state.

Engr. Akeem Olatunji, factional PDP publicity secretary loyal to Ladoja, had yesterday in a statement said that a panel constituted by the party has affirmed Mustapha led executive committee as the authentic.

‎‎But in a swift reaction, another faction loyal to Makinde, which called itself ‎ Concerned Leaders of Oyo State PDP‎, dismissed the claim, saying that the ‎national secretariat of the party has not affirmed any Excos.

It described the statement as being ‎as ‘far from the truth as both leaders from both congresses are meeting and holding consultations with National leaders to find amicable solution to the disagreement that led to the parallel congresses.‎

‎Below are the two statement (unedited)

‎Oyo State Congress: PDP panel affirms Alh Kunmi Mustapha as the State Chairman!!!

‎The National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has affirmed Alh Kunmi Mustapha as the party’s Chairman in Oyo State. The party while upholding the list of executives that belongs to ACCORD, SDP, Labour Party and AD, it instructed that the executive slots belonging to the old PDP block with the exemption of the State chairmanship position will be investigated for necessary review if need be.

‎The Sen Ahmed Makarfi led NCC made this disclosure during a meeting with the Oyo State leadership of the party at Wadata House, Abuja on Friday. In attendance were party faithfuls who felt aggrieved over the results of the State Congress held at Watershed events centre in Ibadan.

‎The PDP National Caretaker Chairman disclosed that the Caretaker Appeal Panel upheld Alh Kunmi Mustapha victory having examined all the petitions filed before it.

“To this end, the leadership enjoins all party members and supporters in Oyo State, to put the issue regarding the State Congress behind them.

“We should work together as one indivisible family ahead of the 2019 elections,” he said.

‎The Chairman of PDP in Oyo State, Alh Kunmi Mustapha while playing host to party faithfuls who thronged his home yesterday described his victory as an act of God and called on his opponent to join him in the arduous task of rescuing Oyo State from the misrule of APC.

‎Furthermore, he urge all PDP members to see themselves as brothers and sisters with a common goal to make our State and country a better society.

‎The Chairman of PDP in Oyo State therefore emphasis that there is no Victor nor Vanquish as Oyo State PDP is the ultimate winner.

Signed

‎Engr Akeem Olatunji

Oyo State PDP Publicity Secretary !!!

Stop Press: PDP National Secretariat Has Not affirmed Oyo Exco!

Our attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly credited to Engr Akeem Olatunji who claimed that the National Headquarters of the party has affirmed the Peoples Democratic Party executive list drawn at Watershed Old Ife road Ibadan Last Saturday.

This is far from the truth as both leaders from  both congresses are meeting and holding consultations with National leaders to find amicable solution to the disagreement that led to the parallel congresses.

We are are part of the reconciliation meeting held in Abuja on the congresses last Wednesday and the National leaders of the party led by the National Caretaker chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi and there was no time did the party leaders make such statement. They have only promised to investigate the matter and make their findings and resolutions known to the general public.

We wondered when the factional Publicity Secretary of the party, Engr Akeem Olatunji became the megaphone or the National Publicity of the Party in which the party communicate its verdict on the ongoing issues to the party faithful and members of the general public.

Only this morning, Senator Femi Lanlehin in a radio interview said without equivocation that the matter would be resolved within days. Does Engr Akeem Olatunji knows more than Senator Lanlehin on the matters? The answer is obviously NO.

We enjoin party members and members of the public to disregard any information who states contrary to this statement and Wait till party National leaders make available official statement on the final verdict on the matter.

Signed:

Concerned Leaders of Oyo State PDP.‎
