Ahead of the 2023 general election, over 200 members of All Progressives Congress, APC, and People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Ibadan North Local Government, Oyo State, have defected to the Labour Party.
While addressing the new and old party members during the Ibadan North General Meeting, Aare Abiodun Adeyeye, the Deputy Chairman of the party in state, assured that the party is here to deliver Nigerians from the shackles of that the major parties has put Nigerians.
He added that Labour Party is coming with full force to change the scene.
His words: “We enjoy you all to join this force as it is obvious Nigerians are tired of this government. Labour Party is coming with full force, as people are clamoring for the change. Hence, there is no other party better ready for that we are the third force, and no party can dislodge us now.
“We are bringing change, when you look at what has been happening in the last seven years, that is their own change but we are moving Nigeria to a better height.”
The party also unveiled some of it candidates for the 2023 election.
The members are Hon. Femi Dexter Akin-Alamu, (Ibadan North Federal Rep), Hon. Dayo Taiwo (Ibadan South West Constituency 2), Hon. Ayodeji Babalola, (Ibadan South East Constituency 2), Hon. Babatunde Onirin, (Ibadan North Constituency 1), Hon. Kayode Adejumo Bello, (Ibadan North Constituency 2)
Hon. Femi Dexter Akin-Alamu while responding after being unveiled, said it’s time for a new system in Nigeria, as it is time to end poverty and suffering in the country.
He said: “Nobody will deliver us from this terrrible situation we find ourselves. We are the one to deliver ourselves from the shackles we have found ourselves.”
“Hence, the Labour Party is ready to free Nigerians from this situation. It is now up to us to decide and do the right thing.
“We should not be intimidated by their money as their money cannot be enough and won’t do anything. Anybody who brings money, collect it and do the right thing”
While also speaking on what Labour Party is bringing for Nigerians, the Oyo State Coordinator, Global Movement for Peter Obi and Datti, Comrade Alfred Ilesanmi Jimoh, said the Obi Movement is bringing a new structure to the Nigerian scene.
He said: “The Obi movement is trying to change the narrative, bring empowerment for the youth, a non corrupt system. The Obi movement believes that the resources of the state should be use for the state. That the resources of Nigeria should be use for Nigeria, we can all see that in Anambra. When resources are being used very well, there will be growth and empowerment.”
