Senator Kola Balogun has described the demise of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewunmi Ajagungbade III, as the passage of an iconic traditional ruler who did his best for his people and his community.
The senator, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, said this in a message to condole with Oyo State government, the people of Ogbomoso and the immediate family of the late foremost traditional ruler who joined his ancestors in the early hours of Sunday.
Senator Balogun, in the condolence message by his Special Adviser (Media and Publicity), Mr Dapo Falade, described the late Soun as a lover of his people who worked round the clock to ensure the development of Ogbomoso.
He said passage of the late traditional ruler should not call for mourning as, according to him, Oba Oyewunmi lived up to a very good old and he was a fulfilled oba who made a lot of positive impacts on his people and the entire Ogbomosoland.
In the same vien, Hon. Olufemi Onireti of Akinsi Compound, Osupa ward, Ogbomoso North Local Government, has mourned the death of Soun of Ogbomosoland.
A statement personally signed by him reads “My sincere condolences to the good people of Ogbomosoland and the Royal Family on the death of the beloved King, His Imperial Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, Ajagungbade (III).
“His Imperial Majesty was a true leader, a father to all, and a Successful Business tycoon who during his reign brings economic development to ogbomoso. Oba Oladunni no doubt will be greatly missed.”
Also, Joseph Tegbe, said he received with shock, the passage of our Distinguished Royal Father, Òba Jimoh Oyewumi Ajagungbade, the Soun of Ogbomosho.
“Kabiyesi was an icon of peace and development under whose reign Ogbomoso witnessed unprecedented advancement economically, socially, educationally and politically.
” Kabiyesi was a father to me, and he indeed played this role as the Father of the Day at my wedding ceremony about 3 decades ago. Till his last moment, he remained a pillar of support to me, my darling wife – Abimbola and our entire family.
” I hereby extend my condolences to the entire Royal Family especially Olori Auntie Laronke, the Oyo State Government, H.E Otunba Alao Akala, Sen. Fatai Buhari, Sen Ayo Adeseun and the entire sons and daughters of Ogbomoso land and Oyo state in general.”
Similarly, a gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Niyi Akintola also mourned the passage of the King.
He said: “It came as a rude shock to me that his majesty the Soun of Ogbomosho has joined his ancestors.
“As an Ibadan man whose ancient origins is traceable to Ogbomosho through Balogun IBIKUNLE and as a politician whose political base and friendships spread across the land I feel highly saddened by the transition at this point of a forward looking monarch like Oba Jimoh Ajagungbade III.
“I pray that almighty God accept his return and Grant him Aljhanna Firdaus.”
