The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1, has described the death of the Oyo State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Kehinde Ayoola, as sun set at noon.
The monarch in a condolence letter to Governor Seyi Makinde, said Ayoola was a fine gentleman “and by far one of your most depend able allies whose untimely exit occured at a time his services were needed most.
The letter reads: “I remember vividly sometimes before the outbreak of the novel coronavirus otherwise known as COVID-19 when many sweepers employed by some contractors staged a protest to the palace to ask for royal intervention to ensure their pay and he was contacted.
“He stated the government’s side of the story the most brilliant way he could, saying the payment of the affected workers was just a matter of time as the verification exercise that led to the delay had been concluded. True to his words, the workers were paid at the appropriate time.
“Therefore, the death of Ayoola at 54 could best be described as sunset at noon. We mourn his passage and condole with Your Excellency and indeed his lovely family.”
