Following the suspension of the son of the former governor of Oyo state, Olamiju Alao Akala as the chairman of Ogbomoso North local government area, Mr Abass Bello Bayewuwon has been inaugurated as the chairman on Wednesday in Ibadan, the state capital.
Abass Bello until the inauguration was the Vice chairman of Ogbomoso North local government area.
Insideoyo.com gathered that the inauguration which was done by the Commissioner For Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Mr Bimbo Kolade was attended by stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mr. Kolade recalled that the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters had received an official letter from the Ogbomoso North Local Government announcing the suspension of Mr. Olamijuwon Alao-Akala.
In his response, the new Acting Chairman of the Ogbomoso North Local Government, Mr. Abass Bello, said he would not do anything to jeopardize the confidence reposed in him.
In a similar development, an eyewitness told insideoyo.com of presence of security officers around the secretariat.
“Security officers are presently around the secretariat as I’m talking to you now. We heard they want to inaugurate the Vice chairman today. I can count about 5 patrol vehicles around here with officers. The tension is high.” he said.
Olamiju Akala had earlier stated that he remains the elected chairman of Ogbomoso North local government and that the suspension is null and void.
