A two-term former House of Representatives, Hon. Kamil Akinlabi, is set to rejoin the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Akinlabi, who is currently the special adviser on legislative matters to deputy speaker of the lower chamber of the national assembly, Hon. Lasun Yusuf, contested the 2015 Reps election under the Labour Party, LP.
He contested and won the 2007 election under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. He defected to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN and was returned in 2011 to represent AFIJIO/Atiba/Oyo East/Oyo West federal constituency seat.
He fell out with the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi in the build up to the 2015 election, making him to join LP, with his supporters. Son of the monarch, Prince Akeem Adeyemi, who contested under the APC, defeated him in the general election.
Speaking with insideoyo.com, Akinlabi said “it’s almost concluded. We will join the party soon.
Meanwhile a former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape has also joined the APC. Alarape, who was the Director General of the Teslim Folarin Campaign Organisation in the 2015 governorship election, was the administrative secretary of the PDP before the court ousted the Sen. Ali Modu Sherrif faction. He confirmed his defection in a chat with insideoyo.com.
A former commissioner in the state, Mrs. Kemi Jayeoba, who hails from AFIJIO local government area, has also joined the party.
Both Alarape and Jayeoba were at the Oke-Ado, Ibadan state secretariat of the APC, where they met with the leadership of the party on the planned ‘welcome party’ for the new members.
