The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Iwajowa Local Government Chapter held its general meeting on February 27, 2025, at Sabiganna Palace Square, Iganna. The meeting, which recorded a remarkable turnout, provided an opportunity for the party to reflect on its progress and achievements.
Muritala Abiodun Oyewumi, Executive Chairman of Iwajowa Local Government, expressed his gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for his outstanding public service.
Oyewumi also commended the party leaders and members, urging them to unite and work towards a stronger PDP.
“The party is waxing stronger every day, and we are committed to delivering on our promises to the people,” Oyewumi said. “I want to thank Governor Seyi Makinde for his leadership and vision, which have inspired us to work harder for the benefit of our people.”
During the meeting, Oyewumi highlighted his administration’s achievements, including:
– Infrastructure Development: Backfilling of Box Culvert along Ofegun-Elekokan, dredging of Ogbua River, and grading of several roads, including Iganna to Ofeegun, Iganna to Joloko, and Ijio to Samo. “These projects have improved the connectivity and accessibility of our communities, making it easier for our people to move goods and services,” Oyewumi explained.
– Education: Facilitation of construction of a block of three classrooms with an office at Community Grammar School, Iganna. “We are committed to providing quality education to our children, and this project is a testament to that commitment,” Oyewumi said.
– Water Supply: Drilling of motorized boreholes at Olorunda Market, Elekokan, Samo, Ijio, and Olopele Village, Idiko-Ago. “Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and we are working hard to ensure that our people have access to this basic necessity,” Oyewumi stated.
– Security: Construction of Amotekun Office at Iwere-ile and purchase of two brand new motorcycles for Amotekun Security outfit. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of our people, and these projects are part of our efforts to strengthen our security architecture,” Oyewumi said.
-Empowerment: Empowerment of 50 aged and widows with N20,000 each, distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers, and distribution of bricklaying tools to bricklayers. “We are committed to empowering our people, especially the vulnerable, to improve their livelihoods and contribute to the development of our communities,” Oyewumi explained.
– Agriculture: Acquisition of suitable arable farmland for Local Government Farm at Iganna. “We are committed to promoting agriculture and ensuring food security in our communities,” Oyewumi said.
– Acquisition and Flagged-off of 27.38 Hectres(67.66 Acres) of Land at Elekokan Road,Iganna Named Governor Seyi Makinde Restoration Estate and the opening of Layout has commenced” he added
Oyewumi announced that the construction of a new abattoir with a borehole will commence next week. “This project will improve the hygiene and safety of our meat markets, and provide a more conducive environment for our butchers to operate,” Oyewumi explained.
The party also welcomed former Caretaker Chairman, Alhaji Hon. AB Azeez, Mr. Hammed Sodiq Adekunle, and others to the party. “We are delighted to welcome these distinguished individuals to our party, and we look forward to working with them to advance the interests of our people,” Oyewumi said.
Oyewunmi also acknowledged the Leadership roles of Hon. Barr. Adeniyi Farinto.
The party recognized and appreciated donations from several individuals, including Hon. Akeem Adedibu, Engr. Olayiwola Michael Adeyemi, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller, Hon. Bello Tajudeen Olori, and Mr. Hammed Sodiq Adekunle. “We are grateful for the support of these individuals, and we assure them that their contributions will be used to benefit the people of Iwajowa Local Government,” Oyewumi said.
