In a bold move to combat Gender-Based Violence (GBV), the First Lady of Iwajowa Local Government Area, Mrs. Aminat Moromoke Oyewumi, has launched a sensitization and awareness campaign.
The campaign aims to educate the public, particularly women, about the existence of GBV and the importance of speaking out against it.
The campaign, which took place in various towns and communities, focused on issues such as sexual violence, Female Genital Mutilation, harmful widowhood practices, and child marriage.
Mrs. Oyewumi emphasized the need for women to be aware of their rights and to seek help when needed.
In addition to the awareness campaign, Mrs. Oyewumi highlighted the existence of a Justice and Safety Authority for women who experience GBV.
She also mentioned the Response Care Support System, which is available through the Office of the First Lady of Oyo State, Engr. Mrs. Tamunominini Makinde.
She commended the First Lady for providing leadership for all women in the state through various awareness campaigns.
