The Chairman of Ibarapa North local government area, Hon. Lawal Lateef Akorede on Saturday held a crucial security meeting with kings and chiefs of the three towns in the local government namely, Igangan, Ayete and Tapa.
The meeting which centered on how to tackle the menace of bandits and killer herdsmen also had in attendance local hunters and youth.
Recall that suspected bandits attacked Igangan recently and killed many people. The palace of the monarch, Asigagan of Igangan was also set on fire. Several other properties were destroyed in the attack.
While speaking, Akorede discussed the security plans on ground to combat the security challenges. He urged the people to give room for the incoming solution so the best and desired results can be achieved
He added the Oyo state government-led by Engineer Seyi Makinde has promised to support local hunters and vigilantes with necessary things they will need in a bid to find lasting solution to the security challenges.
He hinted that Ibarapa North Local government will be receiving soldiers urging the traditional rulers and the youth to welcome them as they will helping the local vigilantes and hunters.
He added that the local government will employ about hundred capable people to join the vigilante group.
