Mr Olayinka Ayobami Omikunle, candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for Ibadan South East II State Constituency Election has been declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The House of Assembly election was held on Saturday across the state.
Omikunle polled 14,393 to defeat APC’s Adegoke Olajuwon Warith who polled 6,318 and other candidates.
Omikunle will be replacing Late Hon Segun Popoola (PDP) who died at the University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan where he was receiving treatment.
Insideoyo.com recalls that Ibadan South East is where preelection violence was recorded in the state where three people were killed.
A councilor on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Sulimon Ariyibi, from ward 10 was killed.
He was attacked and killed in his house at Ile Tuntun area, Ibadan the Capital city of the state in the presence of his wife and kids.
The deceased and two others that are yet to be identified were confirmed dead upon arrival at the Adeooyo state hospital, Ring Road Ibadan.
The state Police public Relations Officer, SP. Adewale Osifeso has also confirmed the incident.
Osifeso in a phone chat with newsmen said: “we have received the sad report, and investigations is ongoing to unravel the situation that led to the development”
