The Chairman of the Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration (MRMR) Committee of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, Chief Bisi Ilaka, has announced the composition of an 11-member committee tasked with driving the party’s membership revalidation and mobilisation exercise across the state.
Ilaka made the announcement during the grand unveiling of the ADC Membership Revalidation, Mobilisation and Registration Programme held at the Press Centre in Ibadan, describing the initiative as a major step toward strengthening the party’s grassroots structure ahead of future political engagements.
He explained that the MRMR committee is made up of 11 members drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state, with the structure carefully designed to ensure broad representation and effective mobilisation.
According to him, the committee is chaired by himself, with Barrister Saheed Oyebisi serving as a key member. Other members representing the senatorial districts include Adekola Adeoye, Alhaji Suleiman Oyediran and Alhaja Aminat Badmos from Oyo South; Hon. Raji Musediq, Hon. Azeez Akinkunmi, Saheed Ogunbunmi and Bukola from Oyo Central; and Nasiru Ibrahim Tijani, Isiaka Adebowale and Adeyemo Adesina from Oyo North.
Ilaka explained that the committee would also establish a wider grassroots framework to guarantee effective participation across the state. Under the arrangement, three members will be assigned to each of the 33 Local Government Areas, while three additional members will operate in each ward to ensure thorough registration and mobilisation of party members.
He noted that the structure is designed to ensure that no eligible citizen interested in joining the ADC is excluded from the exercise.
“Oyo State consists of 351 wards across 33 Local Government Areas, with a total of 6,389 polling units. These wards and polling units form the administrative structure for elections and local governance in the state,” Ilaka said.
He explained that the membership revalidation programme is aimed at strengthening the party’s base, deepening grassroots participation, and providing citizens with the opportunity to become active participants in the ADC’s vision for governance and development.
According to him, membership of the ADC represents more than holding a party card, noting that it signifies commitment to the principles of transparency, accountability, and participatory governance.
“This programme will enable us reconnect with existing members while also welcoming new supporters into the fold. Every registration strengthens our party and reinforces the voice of the people in the democratic process,” he said.
Ilaka urged party members to return to their respective wards and local governments to complete their registration, while also encouraging interested citizens to take advantage of the ongoing digital registration platform before the exercise closes on Sunday.
Describing the exercise as a “historic journey,” he appealed to residents of the state to support the ADC and become part of what he called a movement for positive change.
“This unveiling is not merely symbolic; it is a call to action. By working together across all the wards and polling units in the state, we can build a vibrant network of members who are informed, engaged, and committed to the growth of the ADC in Oyo State,” he said.
He added that the party is confident that a strong grassroots structure will position it effectively for future electoral contests, including the 2027 general elections.
Ilaka also commended the leadership of the party at the national level, particularly the National Chairman, Senator David Mark, and the National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, as well as members of the National Working Committee and the party’s zonal leadership, for their guidance and commitment to strengthening the ADC across the country.
He thanked party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters present at the unveiling, saying their participation reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger and more united Oyo State through the platform of the ADC.
