Muslim faithful in Igbope, a community in Oorelope Local Government Area, on Friday gathered to observe the Eid al-Fitr prayer marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The congregational prayer, held in Igbope land was led by the Acting Imam, Ustaz Al-Imam Isaq Muh’d Rabiu, who guided worshippers through the special rites associated with the celebration.
Speaking shortly after the prayer, the cleric urged Muslims to sustain the spiritual gains of Ramadan.
“Eid is not just a day of celebration; it is a reminder of the discipline, patience and devotion we have built over the past month. We must not abandon these virtues after Ramadan,” he said.
Eid al-Fitr, one of the most significant festivals in Islam, is observed by Muslims worldwide after the completion of the 29 or 30 days of fasting during Ramadan. The prayer, usually performed in large congregations at designated prayer grounds or mosques, symbolises gratitude to Allah, unity among believers, and a renewal of faith.
Rabiu also emphasised the importance of peaceful coexistence within the community.
“We must continue to live in peace with one another, support the less privileged, and promote unity in our community. These are the true lessons of Ramadan,” he added.
This publication understands that In Igbope, the atmosphere was marked by devotion and a sense of communal harmony as residents turned out in large numbers to participate in the prayer session.
