Indigenes and residents of Igboho community, Oorelope local government area of Oyo state ha e said they are still awaiting the Governor Seyi Makinde led PDP administration to mention any project it has started or executed in the area in the last three years.
The said they waiting for the first project to be started or completed by the government in the remaining few months of the outgoing administration.
They showered encomium and words of commendation on the state Deputy Governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, for what they described as his tenacity, political sagacity, uprightness and courage.
They commended the Deputy Governor for the decision to dump the ruling Peoples’Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress, APC saying the action is in response to their demand and pressure on him to make the political move.
They added that with the decision, he has yielded to the request of providing them with a credible alternative where politics is done with human face devoid of executive rascality and institutionalized autocracy.
The leaders said the move is pleasing and a welcome development to them, noting that the move will put an end to what they described as “directionless movement that started in May 2019.”
The leaders spoke in a statement that wa jointly signed, issued and made available to journalists on Saturday.
Some of the leaders who signed the state include: Mr. Elemoso Asimiyu, Mr.Oluwafemi Jamiu Tunji, Hon. Mrs. Ramota Sekoni, Alh. Ismaila Oladosu, Mrs. Aminat Rasidi and Hon Fasasi Adeniyi.
Others are: Mr. Olanrewaju, R. A, Alh. Mudathir Somope, Alh Ashiru A. Alimi, Mr. Mudathir Kamilu, Mrs. Olagboyero Medinat, Mr. Ayawo Abdulrazaq and Mrs. Shittu Simbiat Elemoso.
The statement reads in part “The people of Igboho in Oorelope Local Government of Oyo State have given encomium and commendation to the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, for his tenacity, political sagacity, uprightness and courage.
“The leaders and stakeholders cutting across the length and breathe of the Local Government affirmed that the decision of the Deputy Governor to yield to our demand of providing us with a credible alternative where politics is done with human face devoid of executive rascality and institutionalized autocracy is pleasing and a welcome development to us.
“We affirmed that for listening to our wish, Olaniyan has again confirmed his leadership dexterity.
“His leading us to the All Progressive Congress (APC) shall put an end to a directionless movement that started in May 2019.”
They however expressed worry on the “desperate move by the sinking government of Governor Seyi Makinde in the inducement and coarsion of our traditional rulers in the Local Government just to divert the attention of the populace from from the real issues.
“We challenged Governor Seyi Makinde to mention one project that he has commissioned in Oorelope Local Government since the inception of his administration three years ago.
“No amount of tele-guiding and media bullying would make us join issues with our revered traditional rulers as they are our leaders, we respect them and the noble institution that they administer.”
They congratulated Olaniyan for giving them direction and reaffirm their believe in his leadership, reassurring him of their unwavering support and loyalty, while “waiting anxiously for Governor Seyi Makinde to come and commission his first project in Oorelope Local Government even after three years of voting massively for him because of their son, Olaniyan.”
