The Federation of Ibarapa Students Association (FIBSA) held its 3rd Parliamentary Summit on December 5, 2024, at Lanlate Town Hall, Ibarapa East Local Government.
The summit focused on the theme “Civic Engagement: Amplifying Student Voices in Legislative Governance.”
The event brought together students, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss the pivotal role of youth in legislative processes and governance. Notable guests included Alh. Akeem Kuso, Chairman of Oyo State Tipper, Lorry, and Quarry Park Management System; Mr. Adegbola Seun (Triple Tee), representing Engr. Aderemi Oseni; Comrade Oke Oludele, representing Engr. Saheed Oladele; and Hon. Olalowo, Sole Administrator of Ibarapa North East Local Government, Lanlate.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon. (Engr.) Dr. Aderemi Oseni, represented by Mr. Adegbola Oluwaseun (Triple Tee), inspired students with actionable strategies for amplifying their voices in governance.
He emphasized the importance of youth leadership, stating, “The strength of any society lies in the capacity of its youth to lead with vision and integrity.”
FIBSA Senate President Olalowo Eniola encouraged attendees to engage in collaborative discussions, highlighting the importance of unity and intellectual growth for societal development.
Alhaji Kuso reaffirmed his support for student initiatives, pledging to provide guidance and resources to ensure their voices are heard.
Speakers explored challenges hindering student engagement, proposing solutions such as mentorship programs, legislative internships, and student representation in governance.
The summit concluded with a call to action for FIBSA members to advocate for educational excellence, entrepreneurial initiatives, and active political participation.
FIBSA reaffirmed its commitment to amplifying student voices, ensuring the next generation of leaders is equipped to contribute meaningfully to governance.
