A political group under the aegis of Ibarapa Progressives Forum (IPF) has debunked report of automatic ticket for Hon. Ajibola Muraina, describing it as fake news.
This is contained in a communique signed by its Coordinator, Olalekan Ogunjimi and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan.
The group in the communique issued at the end of its meeting held on Saturday, ruled out automatic ticket for any individual or aspirant.
It would be recalled that a social media platform had on Saturday, reported the defection of Muraina from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) to APC.
The report credited to Ajibola political movement, claimed that Muraina had secured automatic ticket for a 4th term from the national leaders.
Rising from the meeting in view of the recent political development, the group described the report as untrue, unfounded and baseless.
It called on Muraina to desist from misleading the general public that he has been given automatic ticket to run for the 4th time by the APC national leaders.
“We wish to say categorically that Hon Muraina should desist from misleading the general public that he has been given automatic tickets to run for the 4th time by our national leaders,” the group said.
The group congratulated Muraina on his strong conviction to be part of Ibarapa North/Central progressives family.
“We welcome you to the progressive family as a member like other intending individuals wishing to join the big hearted political family.
“As a 3rd term lawmaker from this constituency, we believe we can leverage on your wealth of experience to properly position the party to emerge victorious in future elections,” it added.
It called on Muraina to join the party from his ward and local government, rejecting automatic ticket to anyone in its totalty.
The group urged him to submit himself to the procedures, rules and guidelines for aspirants as stipulated by the party constitution.
“The rejection is deliberate to keep to the zoning formula for House of Representatives and State Assembly tickets as unanimously agreed by founding political leaders of our constituency.
“The House of Representatives and State Assembly tickets are shared between the Central and North political divides of our constituency,” the communique reads.
It congratulated the new national officers led by Sen. Abdullahi Adamu who all emerged at the just concluded national convention.
“We express our commitment to the new National Executives as enshrined in the party constitution and the spirit of team work in all our political contests.
“We wish the national officers successful stay in office as they pilot the affairs of the party to winning the coming general elections and other concerns of the party,” the group added.
