An impressive show of unity marked the endorsement of Hon. Adewale Olatunji aka Murphy, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Saturday’s by-election in the Ibadan North Federal Constituency, during a solidarity gathering in the Sabo area of Ibadan on Tuesday.
Members of the Arewa community, alongside various ethnic groups, including Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, Igbo, and Yoruba, came out in large numbers to show their support.
The Arewa community welcomed Murphy warmly, describing him as a longstanding ally who has significantly contributed to the constituency’s development over the years.
“We, the Arewa Community, heartily welcome you, Hon. Wale Olatunji Murphy. You are an age-long partner-in-progress who has immensely contributed to the progress and development of our federal constituency, especially the Arewa community. We appreciate your consistency and service to humanity. Your party, the APC, has never disappointed us,” they declared.
Traditional rulers from the community highlighted the achievements of late Prince Musiliu Olaide Akinremi and the APC, urging Murphy to embrace inclusivity, fairness, and unity if elected. They also called on him to prioritise women and youth empowerment, and to facilitate federal employment opportunities for local youth.
Speaking, Murphy expressed deep gratitude to the traditional rulers and chiefs who received him at the Sarkin Sabo palace.
“I thank you, our valued traditional rulers and chiefs, for receiving me here. I also thank our leaders and the entire Sabo community for standing firmly with our great party, APC. Let’s continue to support APC, and please vote for me this Saturday as your federal representative. By His grace, I will never let you down,” he said.
Murphy urged residents to reject the PDP, accusing the party of misappropriating federal allocations under President Bola Tinubu without improving local infrastructure or services.
“These funds have not translated into better drainage, paved roads, or adequate healthcare. With your full support, I am confident of victory. I truly value your unwavering love and support. Together, we will secure victory,” he added.
Dignitaries at the event include Alhaji Bello Oladeji (BAO), Alhaji Audu Abubakar Marafan, Alhaji Teslim Omilabu Gandhi, Leader Fatai Akinlabi, Alhaji Wale Sanusi, Hon. Monsuru ‘Tunde Adeyemo (Socrates), Comrade Femi Awogboro, 2024 APC councillorship candidates, APC leaders, and community leaders.
