A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyo state, Chief Luqman Oyebisi Ilaka has on Wednesday, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, people, and government of Oyo state over an explosion at the Adeyi, area of Bodija, Ibadan.
Ilaka made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday.
Some parts of Ibadan experienced an explosion that occurred at about 7:44pm on 16th of January 2024. The unfortunate incident resulted to death of some people while many were injured, properties were destroyed.
Governor Seyi Makinde who visited the scene said that a preliminary investigation revealed that explosive devices stored by illegal miners led to the explosion.
Ilaka the Ladilu of Oyo kingdom who is also a Former Chief of Staff to Governor Makinde prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased.
He commended the state government for its swift response and comprehensive medical attention given to the surviving victims.
He said: “My heart goes out to all those affected by the Bodija, Ibadan Explosion. who have experienced such disheartening occurrences.
“My deepest thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families in the wake of this devastating loss.
“To the families and the neighbors grappling with unbearable loss, we are here to say you are not alone.
“May God Almighty comfort us all, give a speedy recovery to the injured, and May the souls of those who lost their lives Rest In Peace”, Ilaka stated.
