The Oyo North senatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Barrister Bayo Lawal has said that he did his very best while in office as the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the state.
Bayo Lawal said this on Tuesday while featuring on a radio station in Ogbomoso.
“My political career started recently. If I had known, I should have started long ago. As a barrister, I distanced myself from politics. But when people observed my contribution and impact in the society, people came appealing that I should participate in politics to help my people.
“I did my best as the Commissioner for Justice in Oyo state. Service to the people is far more important than nursing a personal interest. The welfare of my people is very paramount.” He said.
The Bamofin of Kisi also listed some of the projects he facilitated to the Oyo North senatorial district while in office as the Attorney General of the state.
“As an attorney and commissioner for justice, I facilitated the following: official cars for the judges, facilitation of high court to Ogbomoso, magistrate court in iseyin, another court in Kishi, magistrate court in Orire local government among others.
“The essence of governance is to reduce poverty. Nigeria should be like Singapore and Malaysia if the country could be running like the first republic.” he said.
The UI graduate and Barrister also explored some of the values and resources in the Oyo North senatorial district which he intends to work on if elected as a senator.
“Oyo North senatorial district is the food basket of Oyo state. In Kano, there’s cotton pyramid. Here in Oyo North senatorial district, we’ve many resources. Baba Koleosho and others have done their best, but the most essential thing now which is a great challenge is unemployment.
“Nigeria is facing the issue of Boko haram because of the level of unemployment in the county. I’m very much concerned about our youths. The issue of employment is an utmost concern.” he added.
