A former member of the House of Representatives who represented Ibadan North-East/South East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between 2015-2019 and one of the sons of late former Governor of Oyo State, Dapo Lam-Adesina has ruled out the possibility of decamping to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) saying he remains a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Dapo Lam-Adesina who was Aanuoluwapo Omorinde’s Guest on BOTTOM LINE – a political programme on IBR 92.5fm this Saturday described himself as a disciplined Politician who is committed to the ideals of progressivism with no penchant for cross carpeting.
In his words ” this is not the first time I will be saying this and quote me anywhere, I can never join the PDP. What am I looking for? I have left the APC, I am presently in ADC”.
The former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Oyo State however warned that the concept of progressivism is not as rigid as many people take it. Justifying his claim he said “there are many Progressives who are in conservative Party and vice versa. Does that change anything? This thing has to do with your mindset”.
When asked to rate the performance of the incumbent government in Oyo State, he said it is too early to speak on that. “The government is just two years. It is too early to begin to rate its performance. I feel we still need to give the government more time”. He however added that government at all levels are put in place to solve the problems of the people and that no Leader should be found wanting in this regard.
On the#EndSARs protest, he noted that it only underscores the need to restructure the Country. He recalled the support he gave as a Federal Lawmaker to some of the moves that will hasten up the process but expressed regret that the efforts failed in State Houses of Assembly across the Country.
Ahead 2023, Hon. Dapo Lam said he currently has no ambition and that the election year is still far off. “It is too early to talk about 2023. With all of these happening across the Country, who knows who will be alive till then? He retorted.
He denied having any rift with his successor- Hon Agboworin saying ” he defeated me in the last election. He is my brother and I want him to succeed.
On the rumour that a Football pitch caused ripples between them, he denied knowledge of such.
According to him “the Football pitch in question is located inside Oke’badan High School. I facilitated it with my personal money and paid for everything from my pocket. I even dug a borehole behind the pitch for those that will be using it. All of these were before the election. I included it in the 2019 budget and that was the last budget I participated in before I left the House. If Honourable Agboworin completes it, it his project not mine so, that should not be an issue at all”.
He admonished the Youths to be law abiding at all times.
