Contrary to news going around about the defection of some senators, the lawmaker representing Oyo South senatorial district, Senator Adesoji Riliwan Akanbi, has debunked the news that he has dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC to join the People’s Democratic Party.
Adesoji stated in a release obtained by InsidOYO.com that he is still a member of the ruling APC.
It reads “It was to my great surprise to hear that my name was read among APC Senators defecting to PDP, as announced on the floor of Senate Chamber by the Senate President.
“I remain an APC member and senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District Oyo State.
“This is to put in record straight.”
Recall that Adesoji was listed among the Senators who decamped from APC today to join the People’s Democratic Party.
Also, the Nigerian senate has announced it will embark on their eight weeks-long recess. The legislative arm adjourned plenary to Tuesday 25, 2018.
Senate President Bukola Saraki announced the recess at the plenary.
The adjournment is part of the prayers of a motion on the siege on Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.
However, Senators Monsurat Sunmonu(Oyo) and Abdul-Aziz Nyako(Adamawa) have also defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
