A chieftain of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in Oyo State, Engineer Oyedele Hakeem Alao, has declared that the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has been consistent in promoting unity and harmony in Yorubaland since 1970.
Alaafin ascended the throne of his fore fathers in 1970. The monarch clocked 83 on Friday.
While hailing the monarch, Alao, who contested gubernatorial election on the platform of AD in 2019, has declared that the monarch has been consistent in promoting culture and harmony in the entire Yorubaland.
Alao made this disclosure in a statement made available to journalists.
He maintained that the Alaafin has also played significant role in emergence of governors in the state.
He said that the monarch has been unifying Yoruba sons and daughters since he ascended the throne.
Alao while speaking further, noted that Oyo town under Oba Adeyemi is always visited by political juggernauts across the country to seek his blessings.
He added that Kabiyesi has been playing all these roles in an unparalleled grace.
Alao said, “Since Oba Lamidi Adeyemi ascended the throne of his forefathers in 1970, our first class Kabiyesi in Yoruba land has remained consistent in discharging his roles as a royal father in the areas as socio-political harmony and sustenance of our cultural ideals, norms and traditions.
“Oba Atanda Adeyemi, a boxer, has been playing a key role in unifying the country, particularly all Yoruba sons and daughters both in the country and in the diaspora.
“Of great attraction is the Kabiyesi’s role in the selection of governor of Oyo State and other political leaders over the years.
“Oyo town under His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi is always visited by political juggernauts across the country to seek his blessings and support and once you secure his nod you can be sure of victory at polls.
“Kabiyesi has been playing all these roles in an unparalleled grace and gaity, while waxing stronger, appearing younger in spite of the fact that he clocked 83 on 15 October, 2021.”
