As way of giving back to their communities, a group known as Oke Ogun Community Development Forum on Wednesday, distributed over 3,000 copies of exercise books to 18 public primary schools in Iwajowa and Atisbo local government areas of Oyo state.
The group which members cut across the 10 local government areas in the Oke Ogun zone is a non-governmental and non-political group.
While speaking with insideoyo.com on Friday, the Coordinator of the group, Surv. Eegundiran Oluwakayode Abiodun (mnis) said the gesture is a way of giving back to their communities and the group hope to carry out more laudable projects of this kind for the benefit of Oke Ogun.
“We gathered ourselves with the aim that we need to pay back to our communities. It is not political and not a government initiative.
“We just started this year, this is our first outing. By December, we are having it in mind to pay school fees for about 50 students in another local government in Oke Ogun.”
Eegundiran while listing the name of schools that benefited said the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) was consulted and carried along in the exercise.
The 9 schools that benefited in Atisbo local government area are Ansar Deen School 1, Tede, Baptist Basic school, Ago Are, L.A. Primary School, Ofiki, Muslim Primary School, Owo, Ansar Deen Primary School, Ofiki, Baptist Primary School, Owo, Community Primary School, Agunrege, Baptist Primary school, Baasi and L.A.Primary School, Sabe.
For Iwajowa local government area, the 9 schools are Baptist Primary School, Iwere Ile, Ansar Deen School 1, Iwere Ile, Ansar Deen School II, Iwere Ile, L.A. Primary school, Ilaji Ile, RCM Primary school, Ijio, Ansar Deen School I, Igana, Ansar Deen School II, Igana, Baptist Primary school, Igana and Nomadic School I, Igana.
He appreciated all members of the group for their supports. He also acknowledged the efforts of Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teacher, Iwajowa Chapter, Comrade Ojediran, Chairman, Association of Headmasters in Iwajowa, Comrade Olayiwola, HOS Administration & General Services of Atisbo LGUBA, Mr Fagbemi Jelili and others who helped in the distribution of the books in the two local government areas.
