A non-governmental organization, George Aid Foundation, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro, has continued its monthly food distribution to the downtrodden in Ibadan metropolis.
For the month of April, hundreds of persons with disabilities under the Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities Secretariat, Ibadan, were beneficiaries.
Flagging off the distribution of food packs to persons with disabilities, the Director-General to the Oyo State Governor on People with Disabilities, Barrister Ayodele Adekanbi, appreciated the gesture of the George Aid Foundation for aligning with the vision of Governor Seyi Makinde.
He called on well-meaning individuals to support the government in empowering people with disabilities.
Adekanbi added that the Agency has a database of persons with disabilities in the state, hence the need to collaborate for a more inclusive society.
Addressing the beneficiaries, who are all persons with disabilities, the President of the Rotary Club of Ibadan Jericho Metro, Rotarian Salisu Afolabi, said the support of George Aid Foundation towards the programs of Rotary Club Jericho Metro is helping the needy in a significant way.
He added that the distribution of food packs to persons with disabilities makes it up to twenty different groups of downtrodden that have been catered for in Ibadan over two years.
In his own remarks, the Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor on Education, Chief Abiodun Tiamiyu, stated that the gesture will help persons with disabilities by taking them off the streets as beggars.
The hundreds of beneficiaries were selected from over twelve thousand persons with disabilities in the state.
