The Ibadan Descendants Union, IDU-USA Inc., has been commended for sustaining its empowerment programme for small scale business owners in Ibadanland.
A former President General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes CCII, Chief Adebayo Oyero, who also doubles as the Patron of the IDU USA Inc. gave the commendation in Ibadan at the presentation of Fifty Thousand Naira each to another batch of eighty small scale business owners.
Chief Oyero was happy that the collaboration of the IDU, USA Inc. this year with its Dallas Forth Worth chapter which initiated the maiden edition of the program last year was a direct response to his plea that the laudable Ibadan Family Empowerment (IFE) project should be supported by all.
He enjoined other Ibadan social cultural associations to buy into the noble initiative.
Welcoming guests, to the Oke Aremo, Ibadan House venue of the program, the President of Ibadan Descendants Union, Dallas Fothworth Chapter, Mr Shola Bolomope, reaffirmed the commitment of the union to enhancing the quality of life of Ibadan indigenes through its Ibadan Family Empowerment (IFE) project.
He appreciated the leadership of the USA IDU Inc. for the collaboration which made it possible to increase the number of beneficiaries from twenty two last year to eighty this year.
He enjoined beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money so that the union will be encouraged to do more next year.
Also speaking, the National Vice-president of the IDU, USA Inc., Mrs Abiola Ajibade said that as proud citizens of Ibadan IDU members are always ready to give back to the community of their birth.
She recalled several involvements of the IDU in community development efforts in Ibadan specifically in the areas of promotion of primary health care facilities and scholarships to indigent Ibadan Students.
In his own speech, the outgoing President of the CCII, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga thanked the IDU, USA Inc for supporting the CCII in all its programmes.
He commended the IFE project, which targets the less privileged in the society and urged beneficiaries to make good use of the money.
Six of the beneficiaries of the maiden edition of the program last year were around to give testimonies on how the program has impacted positively on their businesses.
They were so happy that they sang choruses and prayed for more successes of IDU members. The six of them were also motivated with ten thousand naira each.
