Federation of Igboho Students’ Union (FISU), on Monday, honoured the chairman of Oorelope local government, Mr Akeem Adepoju Raheem, Special Assistant on Print Media to Governor of Oyo state, Mr. Moses Alao, and others with awards.
The awards were given at the 40th anniversary of the union, held at the Igboho Town Hall, Igboho, in Oke Ogun area of the state.
The chairman who gave the welcome speech, commended the heroes and heroines who established the union to address common challenges of the era.
He urged the current leaders and members of the union to keep the flag flying and urged everyone to work together towards the development of Igboho town.
Raheem, who dedicated the award to Governor Seyi Makinde, who he described as the “God Sent Man,” said: “Today, I delivered the welcome speech at the 40th Anniversary of the Federation of Igboho Students’ Union (FISU).
“I commended the heroes and heroines who established the noble organisation and also challenged the current crop of students to keep the flag flying.
“I encouraged every individual personality present at the occasion to work towards making Oorelope great again and work together towards developing our community with love and unity.
“I was also honoured with an Award, which I dedicated to the God Sent Man (GSM) to the good people of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the Executive Governor of Oyo State.”
Also speaking at the event, shortly after receiving an award in recognition of his contributions to the students’ union in the town, the Special Assistant on Print Media to the Governor Makinde, Mr. Moses Alao, charged students to rise to the occasion of bringing about development and progress in the town.
He equally dedicated his award to the Governor, who he noted, has redefined governance and has given hope to the youths of the state by giving them opportunities in leadership.
