The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the construction of 28 roads and bridges across the country worth over 1.2 trillion Naira.
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, disclosed this shortly after the FEC meeting held on Monday.
He said the projects were approved by FEC having gone through the Bureau of Public Procurement and Certificates of No Objection secured.
Umahi also said FEC approved the construction of Buruku bridge across Katsina Ala River in Benue State worth over 83.7 billion Naira while an approval was given for construction of 91.432km road at Saki in Oyo State worth 144 billion Naira.
Meanwhile, the lawmaker representing ATISBO, Saki East, Saki West Federal Constituency, Honorable Tajudeen Kareem Tajudeen, has promised to ensure full implementation of the road according to the specified standards.
Kareem also known as ‘Were’ in a statement made available to newsmen, on Tuesday, said the project approval is as a result of his efforts.
The Chairman House Committee on Culture and Tourism added that the project will help to keep Saki economy growing adding that the project shall be completed over a period of 24 months.
His words: “Delighted to inform the public and most especially the good people of Saki and Okeogun about FEDERAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL approval of 91.432km road construction project of Saki-Okerete road totaling 144 billion. This project is as a result of our efforts to ensure the victory of our dear party and the Renewed Hope agenda.
“This project will help Saki to be the commercial hub of the state, another important means to keep the economy growing in our nation and a means to keep ourselves employed and productive. And Saki as one of the most important and commercially viable cities in South West.
“As your Representative, I’m always committed to the service of my constituents and on this project, which shall be completed over a period of 24 months will be supervised and supported by my team and myself to ensure that the project is fully implemented according to the specified standards.”
