Award winning On Air Personality and an indigenous health content maestro, Faysol Oluwakemi, popularly called Dokitomoye has launched a Non-Governmental Organization called Get Healthy Africa Initiative, GHAi.
The organization which is aimed at bridging the gap between people and medical information was launched at the sixth edition of the Faysol Oluwakemi Annual Health Lecture, FOHCAF, held at the House of Chief, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo state.
According to the founder, Faysol Oluwakemi, the organization is born out of his passion to champion health information to the door step of the common man irrespective of their age, religion or personalities.
He concluded as he said, GHAi is a home for all and that more hands are needed to make the goals of the organization a reality.
The chairman of the event, Deputy provost, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Professor Fatai Adeniyi, said the event is a huge one for health practitioners as well as the masses, as it is bridges the gap between the people and updated medical information.
He further stated that events like such is a great opportunity for people to get enlightened as regards their medical well-being especially in the aspect of mental health while applauding Faysol Oluwakemi for making use of his talents in serving humanity.
While unveiling the official logo for the new NGO, the DG, Nigeria Institute of medical research, NIMR, Professor Babatunde Salako who doubles as the chairman Board of Trustees for GHAi, commend the founder, Faysol Oluwakemi, for his unquantifiable contributions to the health sector and the initiative to expand to the African continent while also urging all and sundry to join hands together to support the great and laudable initiative.
In his remarks at the event, the founder of ASIDO foundation who doubles as the keynote speaker, Dr. Jibril AbdulMalik, implored the masses to pay attention to their mental health by managing stress, accepting failure and shunning drug abuse.
In a similar vein, the NUJ chairman in Oyo state, Mr. Ademola Babalola, who was the chief host of the event, charged the founder not to relent in his good work and prayed that God will give him the strength to continue his service to Humanity.
Present at the event were media practitioners, medical professionals, NAWOJ chairperson in Oyo state, Mrs. Jadesola Ajibola, Medical sociologist/Educationist, Dr. Lukman Fasasi and Dr.Yetunde Adeniyi of the Children and adolescent Psychiatry clinic, UCH Ibadan, among others.
GHAi is an organization which focuses on Social mobilization and Behavioral communications; Community engagement and Advocacy to pass information on the need to be healthy; Partnering with national, state, local and international stakeholders in a bid to achieving common goals for a healthy Africa through adequate health information and community engagement.
It also aimed to be a platform to facilitate healthy infrastructure to remote areas and providing relief supports for less privileges.
