Contrary to reaction from the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji that he was not invited for the Independence day celebration organised by the Oyo State government.
The Olubadan was absent yesterday at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Oba Adetunji’s reserved seat was unoccupied throughout the period of the programme.
The monarch, had in a reaction by his media aide, Mr. Adeola Oloko, said that the palace did not get the government’s invitation to attend a programme that would hold less than 24 hours later.
He even denied that he was aware of such invitation at the time he left the palace when he was told that a source had hinted that the monarch’s invitation was delivered at 11 a.m on Saturday.
But a document obtained by insideoyo.com revealed that the monarch was duly invited for the event, just like any other royal fathers, including the Alaafin of Oyo.
The letter shows that an invite was indeed addressed to the palace and was received and signed by one of the monarch’s media assistants, Mr. Yanju Adegboyega at “1100hrs” on 30th September, 2017.
