Senator Monsurat Sunmonu has been conferred an honorary doctorate by the Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria (CICN).
The conferment ceremony held during the annual National Conference and Induction ceremony of the Institute at the Centre for Management Development, Lagos.
The awardee, Sen. Monsurat said she was delighted to be honoured with the award, adding that it would spur her to do more for the benefit of the society.
Commending the CICN, Sen. Monsurat opined that, with trends of consumers buying online and via their mobile devices, there is no better time than now to start an e-Commerce business in Nigeria.
Addressing the young ones, the former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly and Senator expressed hope that her story and achievements would guide young women in Nigeria and let them know that success is only possible through hardwork.
She implored governments at all levels to continue to empower women saying “only with proper female inclusion will Nigeria achieve it’s full potential”.
Presenting the award at the 2021 Annual National Conference and Induction ceremony, the Register-General, Chartered Institute of Commerce of Nigeria Dr. Ademola Ishola said the management was convinced that Dr. Monsurat Sunmonu deserved the award because of her hard work, commitment, kindness, generosity and selfless service to humanity.
