Former Oyo State governorship aspirant, Reverend Dr. Adenike Victor-Tade popularly known as Mama Empowerment has advised members of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Ibadan and District Society to diversify into agriculture and engage in other entrepreneurship activities.
She gave the advice on Tuesday, at the empowerment fair organized by ICAN, Ibadan and District Society at Gbaremu, Ibadan, Oyo state.
The program which was themed; “Backyard Farming: A Panacea for Food Security and Financial” and facilitated by Reverend Dr. Adenike Victor-Tade, was aimed at bringing the country out of poverty as well as encourage healthy living among Nigerians.
Speaking on the theme of the event, Mama Empowerment said backyard farming is one of the best career choice for accountants as it is easy to run as well as required little time and less effort.
She continued as she said farming is a huge opportunity for careers like that of the accountants because it prepares and builds heir lives for retirement.
Her words: “They are accountants but at the same time the economy is becoming devastating and there must be other sources of income which backyard farming is easy to embrace because of their professionalism; hence, the reason for organizing this empowerment fair to attract them into agriculture.”
She advised all chartered accountants that all they have been taught should be put into practice and never limit themselves to the four walls of their specialties saying “Every opportunity should be maximized”.
In his remarks, the executive chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, ICAN, Ibadan and district society, Mr. Biodun Adedeji, encouraged all chartered accountants to diversify and expands their tentacles beyond their comfort zone.
Adedeji, who said that the event was organized to educate ICAN members about other business fields at which they can leverage on, advocated for the promotion of agriculture and entrepreneurship skills.
A financial expert and one of the facilitators at the event, Prince Oyebade Oyedepo, noted that having multiple career help in ensuring job stability. He encouraged the accountants to read wide and work assiduously to expand their scope.
