Sunshine Stars Football have unveiled the immediate past manager of Shooting Stars Sports Club, Edith Agoye, as their new head coach.
This is coming few hours after Shooting Stars appointed former Remo Stars’ coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, as Technical Adviser.
He took over from a Cameroonian tactician, Emmanuel Deutsch, whose contract was not renewed by the Akure-based club.
Agoye, who is also a former senior coach of Enyimba of Aba, and Julius Berger Football Club of Lagos, was presented to the media at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, on Monday.
Present at the unveiling ceremony was the Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Otunba Dele Ologun, General Manager, Ondo State Football Agency, Prince Babatunde Ogunja, Chief Dele Ajayi and Chairman, Ondo State House of Assembly Committee on Youth and Sports, Mr Gbenga Omole.
Recall that insideoyo.com had earlier reported that Agoye quitted as the chief tactician of Shooting Stars after a nine-year spell both as an assistant coach and the head coach.
Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde approved the club’s decision to send Agoye’s on a trip to the United Kingdom for higher coaching course, as a way of appreciating his immense contributions to the team, with a promise by the governor to bankroll it.
It’s not clear if Agoye rejected the offer to take up his new role or not.
