The lawmaker representing Oyo North in The Senate, Dr. Abdulfatai Buhari, will on 13th February, 2018 hold a town hall meeting and empowerment programme for his constituents.
According to Buhari, who chairs the Senate Committee on ICT and Cybercrime, empowerment programme is one of the way through which he reaches out to his constituents.
The programme which is scheduled to commence by 10 am will hold at the new National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp Iseyin.
It would be recalled that Buhari, who is a former House of Representatives’ member, had in the last two years facilitated several projects, moved motions and sponsored bills that will hasten development of his senatorial district. Few of the bills are centred on the establishment of Federal University of Agriiculture, Oke Ogun and Federal Polythecnic, Ogbomoso which have successfully passed first and reading respectively.
Apart from payment of millions of Naira for WAEC fees of students in secondary school, the lawmaker has also facilitated several trainings in agriculture and skill acquisition for the youths in his senatorial district, built ICT centers, donated cash and other valuable materials to various group and individuals, communities and organizations to boost their activities for economic advantage.
His 2016 empowerment programme was adjudged unprecedented in the history of western Nigeria and probably Nigeria at large considering the number of items distributed and beneficiaries.
The senator in a press statement said the items and beneficiaries of 2018 empowerment programme will be more than the previous edition.
Also at the event, the senator will render his account of stewardship of his journey at the National Assembly to his constituents.
Dignitaries expected to grace the occasion include Governor Abiola Ajimobi and his wife, Chief (Mrs) Florence Ajimobi, Deputy Governor Chief Moses Adeyemo Alake, Speaker Oyo State House of Assembly, members of state excos. members of House of Assembly, party leaders and members, among others.
