A member of the House of Representatives from Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa Federal Constituency, Oyo State, Hon. Shina Peller on Wednesday held a stakeholders meeting with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the four local governments of the constituency, where he charged them to embrace unity in the overall interest of the party.
In attendance were all the local governments party chairmen in the constituency, the 42 ward chairmen, youth and women leaders across the constituency including Oyo North senatorial party chairman, Alhaji Rasaq Arikewu, party leader, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi and all other notable party leaders.
Hon. Peller, who enjoined the party leaders to employ bottom-up line approach in rebuilding the party, added that there is need to localise politics and make vital political decisions right from the grassroots level.
In the same vein, he spoke about the insecurity challenge that the country is presently faced with, and the need for everyone to contribute his or her own quota towards addressing the menace.
“Truly, there is need for a more proactive measure in tackling the insecurity in the country, and in doing this, everyone has a role to play,” he said.
Hon. Peller, who later took to his social media pages to inform the public about the meeting, wrote:
“On Wednesday, I had a fruitful stakeholders party meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at my residence in Iseyin, where all the local governments party chairmen in my constituency, the 42 ward chairmen, youth and women leaders across the constituency including Oyo North senatorial party chairman, Alhaji Rasaq Arikewu, party leader, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi and all other notable party leaders were in attendance.
“I seized the avenue to emphasize on the need for us to embrace unity in the overall interest of our party. To achieve this, it is very important that we guard against individual interest, which has remained one of our major problems. Also, I charged them to employ bottom-up line approach in rebuilding our party which means we have to localise politics and make vital political decisions right from the grassroots level.
“In the same vein, I spoke about the insecurity challenge that our country is battling with, and how we, as a government, citizens, institutions and corporate individuals can contribute our own quota towards addressing the menace. Truly, there is need for a more proactive measure in tackling the insecurity in the country, and in doing this, everyone has a role to play. Though government has the primary obligation of securing lives and properties of its citizens, security should be everyone’s business.
“Also, the meeting served as an avenue for me to give report of my stewardship so far as House of Representatives member elected on the platform of the APC. I have been holding this periodic feedback meeting with members of our party since I assumed office and I can say boldly that it is unprecedented in the history of our constituency. This is encouraging accountability.”
