The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State on Thursday adviced Muslim faithful in the state to be wary of what it called “greek gift of Governor Seyi Makinde’s opening of Eid grounds.”
The party, in a Sallah message signed by its Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, said Muslims in the state should be guided in going for worships at Eid grounds, noting that the state has recorded 2,688 infections as at Thursday July 30, 2020, the third highest number of cases in the country, behind Lagos and Federal Capital Territory.
“The Caveat of people maintaining social distancing is a ruse as the government of Engr Seyi Makinde hasn’t bothered enforcing any social distance rule at any of the markets in Oyo State, talk less of implementing social distance rules at EID grounds that would be in multiple of markets,” Olatunde said
The APC urged Muslims to allow the lesson of the spirit of sacrifice and submission as demonstrated by the two dramatic personnel, Prophet Ibrahim(a.s) and Prophet Ismail(a.s) to guide their interactions during the celebration.
“Let’s use the occasion to pray to Almighty Allah to put a stop to this Covid-19 pandemic as well as remember the medical personnels who are in the frontline of the battle for divine protection. We should remember those who have been lost to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, and pray for Almighty God to forgive their shortcomings,” the statement said.
