A former Executive Chairman of Saki East Local Government Area of Oyo State, Tajudeen Alliu, has called on Muslim faithful to sustain the virtues of discipline, charity and tolerance cultivated during the holy month of Ramadan.
Alliu made the call in a statement issued to felicitate Muslims in Saki East, Atisbo Local Government Areas, Oyo State and across the world on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.
“Ramadan has once again offered us a sacred opportunity for spiritual renewal, self-discipline, sacrifice and a deeper connection with Almighty Allah,” he said, noting that the fasting period reinforces the values of compassion, generosity and humility.
He urged Muslims not to abandon the lessons learned during Ramadan, stressing that such values should remain a guiding principle in everyday life.
“As we mark this joyous occasion of Eid, I urge all Muslims, especially my brothers and sisters in Saki East and Atisbo Local Government Areas, not to abandon the noble virtues imbibed during Ramadan,”
Alliu said.
“The lessons of patience, tolerance, love for one another and commitment to righteousness must continue to guide our actions beyond the fasting period.”
The former council boss also linked the significance of Ramadan teachings to the current socio-economic realities in the country, calling for unity and collective responsibility among citizens.
“At a time when our nation is confronted with various socio-economic challenges, it is imperative for us to embrace unity, peaceful coexistence and collective responsibility,” he stated.
“We must continue to promote harmony across religious and ethnic divides, as these are the foundations for sustainable development and national progress.”
Alliu further charged leaders at all levels to prioritise good governance anchored on justice and equity.
“I also call on leaders at all levels to remain committed to the principles of justice, equity and service to the people, ensuring that governance reflects the true aspirations and welfare of the masses,” he added.
He encouraged Muslims to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged during the festive period and beyond.
“As we celebrate, let us remember the less privileged, extend hands of kindness and continue to pray for peace, stability and prosperity in Saki East, Atisbo, Oyo State and Nigeria at large,” he said.
