The Oyo State Government has commended the former Chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited, Chief Ajibola Ogunshola; former Chief of Army Staff, Theophilus Danjuma; Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; Sir Kessington Adebutu and others for supporting the N50bn Education Trust Fund, inaugurated in Ibadan during the week.
At the ceremony, attended by the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu, and other dignitaries, Ogunshola donated N5m on behalf of Punch Newspapers, while Dangote, Adebutu, Danjuma and other donors also supported the initiative.
The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, ‘Toye Arulogun, said the state appreciated the presence of Ogunshola and others.
He said, “The presence of eminent Nigerians at the Oyo State N50bn ETF launch in Ibadan was highly appreciated by the state government. It showed that the effort of the government to revive education is acknowledged by relevant stakeholders.
“The contributions of the guests, which included Chief Ogunshola’s and many others, will be utilised by the ETF committee as promised by the chairman, Onikepo Akande. She is a woman of integrity, a two-term minister and chairman of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.”
