Oyo state government says no pensioner should henceforth pay to process gratuity
Oyo state ministry of establishment and training has assured that henceforth nobody will demand percentage from pensioners before processing their gratuities.
Commissioner for establishment and training, Mr Olasunkanmi Olaleye gave the assurance when he paid a courtesy visit to the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Oyo state chapter, Ibadan.
Mr Olaleye who decried the hardships retirees went through to make ends meet after service stressed the determination of the present administration to ensure that life after retirement was condusive.
Mr Olaleye said that payment of gratuities would be done in batches, and appealed to those yet to get their gratuities to remain calm.
In his address while receiving the commissioner, executive secretary, NUP Oyo state, Mr. Olusegun Abatan said the union was ready to partner the state ministry of establishment and training to train workers on methods to guide against dabbling into unproductive businesses after retirement six months before their retirement.
Mr Abatan also urged the present administration to always accord priority to the needs of retiree.
