Communications minister and deputy speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Barristers Adebayo Shittu and Abdulwasi Musah respectively have been advised against linking the permanent secretary of the Oyo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mrs. Olawumi Ogunesan, with politics.
A statement by Alhaji Taju Okunlola, who spoke on behalf of 9 out of the 11 ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saki West local government area of Oyo State, advised the duo to face the task of governance and stop dragging the name of Ogunesan who they described as a “non-partisan top civil servant” into politics of the state by linking her to the misunderstanding between them and Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
The duo had fingered Ogunesan a being the brain behind the alleged removal of the chairman of the APC in Saki West local government, Alhaji Kareem Adebayo, by 9 out of the 11 ward chairmen over the weekend.
According to the chairmen, “It is highly unfortunate and illogical for them to accuse an innocent woman who knows nothing about their woes. From the beginning to the end, their allegations lack substance. How can a woman we should all be grateful to for making us proud as Oke-Ogun people, be accused of causing crisis in APC? What concerns a PS with politics? A permanent secretary, like other civil servants, deals with the administrative aspect of government. They rise through the rank. While we apologise on their behalf for the damage they might have caused on the humble woman’s hard earned reputation, we urge the Minister and the Deputy Speaker to do their homework properly before coming up with spurious allegations like this.
“We, therefore, wish to use this medium to warn Barr. Shittu and Hon. AbdulWassii to desist from their wicked lies against the person of Mrs. Ogunesan in their anxious effort to climb to power through sponsored propaganda. They should also be informed that there is no crisis in Oyo State Chapter of APC,” the statement added.
