Oyo Assembly Summons FERMA Director Over Non-completion of Repairs On Federal Roads
">

Following pockets of security breaches in some areas across Oyo state in recent times, especially the activities of miscreants and armed robbers , the Oyo state house of Assembly has again called on security agencies to double their efforts in checkmating the rising spate of crimes in the state.

To this end, the House has asked the Oyo state commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu and heads of other security agencies to instruct their officers and men to increase surveillance and beam their searchlight on already identified flashpoints across Oyo state to rid the state of crime.

The House made the call while deliberating on a motion of urgent public importance brought before it by Hon Sanjo Adedoyin (Ogbomoso South).

Hon Adedoyin, who is also the majority leader of the house while presenting the matter made references to reported cases of armed robbery attacks, snatching of cars, phones and bags among other crimes in places like Born Photo, Beere, Iwo Road, Ojoo, Gate, General Gas, Akobo in Ibadan and other parts of Oyo state.

The Speaker, Hon.Adebo Ogundoyin said if securing agencies fail to urgently curb the activities of men of the underworld, the efforts of the present administration in Oyo state in ensuring a peaceful and safe environment would go down the drain.

Hon Ogundoyin noted that criminal activities are usually on the increase whenever festive season is approaching hence he called for twenty-four hour surveillance to nib any crime in the bud.

Hon Yusuf Adebisi (Ibadan South West one) who said he had brought a similar issue before the house few months ago was almost moved to tears when he told the plenary that the activities of hoodlums around Born-Photo and Foko area in his constituency have remained unabated and appealed to the Oyo state Government to give this issue all the attention it deserves.

In his own contribution, Hon Ayo Fatokun (Akinyele One) while commending the Oyo state Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde for the recently purchased security vehicles called for the commencement of the proposed “Light up Oyo state project ” of the new administration which he noted would help reduce criminal activities especially in the night.

Other lawmakers including the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi, the Minority Leader, Hon Asimiyu Alarape and Hon Seyi Adisa (Afijio) appealed to residents to always furnish the security agencies with useful information that will lead to the arrest of criminally minded individuals.
