Barr. Bayo Lawal, the Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, has urged companies across the state to carry out their corprotate social responsibility as the state battles with coronavirus pandemic.
Insideoyo.com recalls that Oyo state has recorded seven confirmed cases of coronavirus, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) said.
Barr. Lawal who is a former Attorney General of the state, commended the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde for his efforts and initiatives towards containing the spread of coronavirus in the state
He said “As at yesterday morning our Governor was traversing all major markets within the metropolis on sensitisation concerning the dreaded virus ravaging the entire nations of the world.
“The efforts of the Governor is commendable and applauded. By afternoon hours, His Excellency declared that he had gone on self isolation. I fervently pray for sound and good health for him.He will come out Hale to continue with the good work. However, while his is in precautionary restrictions,I wish to offer the following suggestions:
“Further information and sensitisation in all major markets, mosques, churches, club houses etc and strict enforcement of procedures laid down by government.
“All media houses, electronic, newspaper and internet must be engaged, particularly electronic billboards erected at strategic areas of our cities.
“I observed that most companies within Oyo State have not come out to discharge their corporate social responsibility to the State.Banks, Construction companies, Insurance Houses, Building Companies, must be made to respond,as they have done particularly to Lagos state. Afterall, bulk of their revenue is generated from this State. Funds raised by government from these organisations will go a long way at addressing some of the financial challenges.
“PDP, as party in government must take the Bull by the horns. The Party should decide it’s methodology to compliment Govt efforts, especially in areas of awareness creation across the State. It is important to feel the impact of the party at this crucial period.
“Hon Comm.of Health and State Emergency Management Agency should continuously engage our citizens on palliatives. His Excellency set the tone yesterday and we must all follow.
“Under his watch, Oyo State shall be healthy,”
