Councilor representing Ward 4 in Saki West Local government area of Oyo state and convener of Hope Never Dies, Hon. Salaudeen Kabeer Adebayo, has empowered 120 youths in a week-long capacity-building and empowerment program.
The program, themed “Cultivating Prosperity: Unlocking Nigeria’s Agricultural Potential,” concluded at the Oredegbe Digital Center in Saki.
The event brought together community leaders, government officials, and industry experts, highlighting the town’s commitment to agricultural development. Hon. Beulah Adeoye was represented by Afeez Omoniyi, while Dr. Lawal Adebowale, CEO of PrinceDee Agroconsult, served as the lead trainer and keynote speaker.
Over six days, 120 youths received training in various agricultural skills, including fish farming, cassava farming, yam farming, maize farming, and beekeeping. Participants were equipped with tools such as planters and beekeeping coats.
The Convener, Councilor Kabir Salaudeen emphasized the program’s goal of addressing Nigeria’s food crisis and promoting youth-led initiatives in agriculture.
Salaudeen who’s also the Majority Leader of Saki West urged participants to apply their new skills to drive economic growth and sustainability.
He noted that the program was conducted without political sponsorship, emphasizing its focus on genuine community development. He thanked the training team for their efforts
Also speaking, Chairman, Oyo State Pension Board, Hon. Rafiu Adekunle commended the initiative and pledged to support agricultural development in Saki.
He added that plans are underway to establish a honey processing factory and a shea butter company in the town.
The lead trainer, Dr. Lawal Adebowale, praised the participants’ enthusiasm and dedication. Other speakers, including Alhaji Kilani Omofoyewa and Dr. Y.Y. Muslim, pledged ongoing support for youth-driven agricultural development.
Hon. Beulah Adeoye noted that the Hope Never Dies 2025 program has laid a strong foundation for addressing food security and fostering economic growth in Saki and beyond.
Dignitaries at the event included Saki West LG Chairman, represented by his Chief of Staff, Seun Oladeji; Hon. Rafiu Adekunle, Chairman, Oyo State Pension Board, Hon. Mudasiru Eruobodo, Board Member of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS); Dr Lukman Adisa, Former Special Assistant to Governor Seyi Makinde.
Others were Councilor Salaudeen Soliu, Leader of the Saki West Legislative House; Alhaji Kilani Omofoyewa, Baale Ilua of Sakiland; Dr. Y.Y. Muslim, Former Director of The Polytechnic Ibadan, Saki Campus; Oladejo Kazeem, President of Saki Youth Organisation; Sekoni Afeez, President of the Council of Oke-Ogun Visionary Leaders and others.
