The councillors in Ido Local Government have suspended the chairman of the council, Hon. Sheriff Adeojo, indefinitely.
The councillors suspended Adeojo during plenary held at the local government legislative house, on Tuesday.
Moving the motion for the chairman’s suspension, the deputy leader of the house Hon. Omotosho Rafiu, from ward 3, accused Adeojo of lack of accountability and poor infrastructure across the 10 wards that made up the local government.
The chief whip of the house, Hon. Adebowale Adedeji, from ward 7, seconded the motion to suspend Adeojo indefinitely.
When the leader of the legislative council Hon. Abidoye Tirimisiyu, who presided over the plenary put the decision to voting, all the the nine councillors supported the motion.
Tirimisiyu confirmed the indefinite suspension of Adeojo after the voting exercise.
The councillors directed the vice chairman, Barr. Abiona Fashola, to take over the running of the local government with immediate effect.
