The Oyo state house of assembly has adjourned plenary to the 7th of April, 2020 as coronavirus ravages the country.
The Speaker, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, stated this at the end of the plenary on Tuesday, while commending Governor Seyi Makinde on various precautionary measures against the pandemic virus.
So far, Oyo has one confirmed case of coronavirus. Nigeria has a total of 42 confirmed cases including one death.
The Speaker said the challenge posed by Covid-19 was a major one hence everyone must work and come together to put an end to the pandemic.
On the same day, the House of Representatives also adjourned plenary for two weeks.
House Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila announced this after the House held its plenary.
Mr Gbajabiamila said the decision was imperative in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak battling the world.
He said the adjournment “is not a holiday” but a decision necessary to observe “social distancing and isolation guidelines that have proven to be effective in preventing secondary transmission of the COVID-19 disease.”
The Senate took the same decision.
