Contest House of Assembly Seat To Weigh Your Status in Politics – Oyo Lawmaker Tells Hakeem Alao
">

A Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Adebayo Oluwafemi Fowokanmi has advised the governorship candidate of Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the last general elections, Mr Oyedele Alao to contest as a member of the state’s assembly to weigh his status in politics.

Hon Fowokanmi, who is the Chairman, Committee on Educational, made this known while reacting to a statement credited to the AD gubernatorial candidate, describing the state’s lawmakers as Lilliputians, inexperienced and incompetent.

The lawmaker, representing Ibadan South West two, said the advice is imperative to avail Mr. Alao the reality of trends in Oyo State politics.

Fowokanmi maintained that majority of members of the current legislative arm of government in the State have made their marks in their various private businesses after their educational pursuits before venturing into politics.

However, Fowokanmi expressed confidence that the ninth state House of Assembly under the leadership of Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, has what it takes in terms of legislative knowledge, skills and dedication to move the state forward.

He added that the lawmakers will always walk in the direction of development and progress with executive arm of government to deliver on electioneering campaign promises to the people.

Fowokanmi said if Mr. Alao’s expectation is rancour and misunderstanding between the governor and members of the state’s house of assembly in order to set the state on the path of anarchy, he should know this would not materialise.

On the claim that majority of lawmakers were only lucky to be in the assembly, Hon. Fowokanmi asked “why can’t he be lucky to win the governorship election under his disabled Alliance for Democracy”.

“My advice for him is he should in the next election, contest for a seat in the state’s House of Assembly to enable him know his weigh and genuinely launches his political career rather than wasting his time and resources in the wrong political party,” Fowokanmi said.

Fowokanmi, while expressing the readiness Governor Seyi Makinde-led government to welcome constructive criticism, appealed to Mr. Alao to allow the present administration in the state to concentrate more on various development projects embarked upon to make life meaningful to the people and residents of the state.

Hon. Fowokanmi, described Governor Seyi Makinde as a thorough bred leader, who at every point in time focusing on infrastructural development, perfect and implementable economic policies, workable healthcare programmes, as well as realistic security architecture.

He, therefore, called on the people of the state to continue supporting the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde who God has ordained to lead the state at this crucial time by ignoring people like Oyedele Alao, who are self seeking and hell-bent in distracting attention of the governor.
